Extension Specialist and Assistant Professor
Extension Specialist and Assistant Professor (Auburn, AL): The Extension Specialist and Assistant Professor (tenure track position) in the Department of Human Development and Family Science at Auburn University will develop, implement evaluate and report of evidence-based programs and applied research related to family and human development, with an emphasis in the area of childhood, from infancy to middle childhood. Responsible for initiating evidence-based Extension and applied research projects that engage and involve client groups, stakeholders, and communities to target parents, caregivers and teachers; and collaborate with, support and train Extension educators across the state in implementation, evaluation, and reporting of these programs. Establish and maintain a strong extramurally funded extension and applied research program. Teach undergraduate and graduate courses (which may include Parenting Education; Extension Publication Lab; Extension Programs Service Learning; Qualitative Methods in Social Sciences; Research & Dissertation; Research & Thesis). Provide service to the department, college, university and professional organizations.
Requires Ph.D. in Family Studies, Human Development, or City and Regional Planning. The successful candidate will have demonstrated strength, or the potential for same, in community-based outreach, childhood development and well-being, curriculum development for community programs, academic scholarship, and evaluation.
