Part-Time Instructor, Pharmacy Technician

Description
Part-Time Instructor, Pharmacy Technician to provide classroom instruction through lecture, computer simulation, demonstration, laboratory exercises, handouts, the use of audio-visuals, responding to questions and testing; perform related duties as required. This position is responsible for completing required paperwork, care of equipment and material, and ability to comply with all CCC&TI policies and procedures. Available to teach evening classes.

Examples of Duties
Essential and other responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
 

Provide classroom/laboratory/clinical instruction to students.
Prepare for each learning experience; prepare, maintain, and update lesson plan; develop and prepare methods to evaluate student performance; prepare laboratory simulations to provide demonstrations and hands-on experience.
Maintain current knowledge in the pharmacy field; participate in staff development programs, workshops, seminars, and other continuing education programs as appropriate.
Assess the relevancy and impact of various lessons; revise and improve lesson format; evaluate a variety of textbooks, films, and videos; select books and other materials to be used for assigned instructional classes.
Maintain accurate records (such as attendance, grades, clinical rotations, etc.) and submit any corresponding reports according to departmental or college guidelines.
Create and maintain online classroom environment through college LMS.
Develop and maintain professional contacts with business and industry as appropriate.
Serve as effective liaison between college programs and clinical agencies as assigned.

Marginal Functions:
 
Participate in the development and delivery of public information efforts; support college functions/cultural activities; assist in the placement of students.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Working Conditions
Knowledge of:

Principles and techniques of classroom instruction.
Distance learning instruction.
The mission, goals and objective of CCC&TI.
Advance principles and practices of instructional development and instructional strategies.
Current trends, research and development in the areas of assignment.
Pertinent federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations.
 
Ability to:
Interpret and apply college and assigned division goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
Contribute to the teaching and learning of mission, goals and objectives which complement those of the college.
Interpret and apply Federal, State and local policies, laws, and regulations.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Work independently in the absence of supervision.
Follow all safety rules and regulations of the department.
Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Operate a variety of mechanical equipment in a safe and effective manner.

Environmental Conditions: 

Ability to handle a work environment and conditions with involve lab and clinical settings. The instructor should have the ability to effectively handle a work environment and conditions which involve an office and classroom workspace and working closely with others. 

The instructor must maintain the office and teaching environments by maintaining equipment and supplies, ensuring overall cleanliness, functionality, and conformance to OSHA standards to provide a safe work environment. 

Physical Conditions: 

Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following: standing, walking or sitting for extended periods, moderate lifting and carrying, general manual dexterity, operating assigned equipment, and extended exposure to computer screens.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  

Required to maintain audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, reading and writing, operating assigned equipment, communicating with others, and handling various tasks simultaneously.                                                                                                                                          

Maintain mental capacity, which permits making sound decisions and using good judgement, demonstrating intellectual capabilities, and evaluating the effectiveness of programs and personnel. 

Scheduling Conditions: 

This is a part-time position, with flexible hours and scheduling dependent on enrollment and needs each semester. 

Traveling Conditions: 

Local travel between Caldwell Campus and various off-campus clinical sites is required.


Experience and Training
Experience:
Minimum of three years professional experience as a pharmacy technician or a pharmacist is required. Teaching and/or training experience preferred.

Training:
High school diploma required. Associate degree in related field preferred. Certification; Currently certified from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) as a pharmacy technician or be a licensed pharmacist in the State of North Carolina.
