Substitute Teacher - Multiple Openings/Shifts
Salary: $110/day
Substitute teachers are responsible for providing instruction and managing classroom environments in absence of the regular teacher. Substitute teachers are required to perform all of the duties of the teacher that they are subbing for. They usually report to the principal at the location to which they are assigned.
Qualifications: All substitutes are required to have a Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) valid teaching certificate or substitute teaching certificate.
If you do not already have a substitute teaching certificate, we will help guide you through the process. Please visit the DESE website for more information on substitute teaching certificates. Please note the following:
- DESE requires a $50 application fee to obtain a substitute teaching certificate
- All applicants will be required to participate in an FBI criminal history background check with fingerprints, a cost of $41.70.
- FHSD suggests waiting until you are hired as substitute teacher so that we can provide you with our District’s specific code. Otherwise, you may need to complete this process twice.
Terms of employment: Substitutes are scheduled for work as needed and are not eligible for benefits.
Start Date: Once the hiring and on-boarding process is completed, new substitutes will be activated in our system. Once active, you can accept work as your schedule allows.
Salary: $110.00 per day - Substitute teacher pay w/increases per days worked.
- After 30 work days in the current school year Substitute Teachers earn $115 per day.
- After 60 work days in the current school year Substitute Teachers earn $120 per day.
- After 90 work days in the current school year Substitute Teachers earn $125 per day.
