The Director of Online Education provides oversight and strategic leadership for the growth and expansion of the College’s online and hybrid learning programs. The Director reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs. The Director will collaborate closely with administrators, faculty, and staff, as well as various outside agencies, in the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of high-quality and pedagogically sound online and hybrid programs and offerings. This position will be responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of online courses, as well as coordinating processes for evaluating the quality of online, hybrid, and web-assisted courses. The Director will also serve as a liaison with Sam Houston State University, with whom LSCPA has a Shared Services agreement pertaining to distance education. The Director should have skills necessary to troubleshoot common technological challenges pertaining to online education. Master’s Degree and a minimum of three years of online teaching experience. A minimum of three years of instructional design experience in working beyond the secondary education level. Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership, Educational Administration, Educational Technology, or related field is preferred. Demonstrated operations, process, and project management experience including three (3) years in a leadership role overseeing online learning in higher education is preferred. Demonstrates experience and familiarity with Blackboard (or LMS equivalent). Knowledge of multi-media applications to design content for the internet, video, and other distance learning technologies. Knowledge of principles of learning theory, interface design, multimedia programming, video production, and instructional design. Knowledge of accessibility guidelines as they pertain to online learning. Ability to identify, write, and administer grant proposals for distance and mediated learning activities. Serves on campus committees as requested. Work week includes days with some evenings and weekends.
