The Cooperstown Central School District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of School Bus Driver. This is a part-time, 10-month position with a competitive salary & benefits package. Successful candidate is required by NYS Law to hold a valid CDL Certification License.
Hours: 6:30 - 9:30 AM & 1:00 4:00 PM, Monday-Friday, when school is in session.
As a School Bus Driver, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and reliable transportation of students to and from school. Your primary responsibility will be to operate a school bus, following a designated route, and adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely transport students to and from school, adhering to established routes and schedules.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus to ensure its safety and report any issues.
- Maintain order and discipline among students while on the bus, promoting a safe and respectful environment.
- Follow all traffic laws, state regulations, and school policies related to school bus operation.
- Assist students, including those with special needs, in boarding and disembarking from the bus.
- Communicate effectively with school staff, parents, and transportation coordinators.
- Respond calmly and appropriately to emergencies or unexpected situations.
- Keep accurate records of daily mileage, fuel consumption, and passenger counts.
Qualifications:
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements.
- Clean driving record.
- Strong commitment to safety.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience and ability to manage student behavior effectively.
