Somerset County Educational Services Commission 991 Route 22 West, Suite 301, Bridgewater, NJ 08807 Vacancy Notice November 5, 2024 Principal (2): The Somerset County Educational Services Commission is looking for a dynamic and visionary administrator to lead the Somerset County ESC alternative, special education, and therapeutic programs for grades K-12+. The position is full time (12 months) with benefits. Requirements: Certification as Principal. Minimum three (3) years' experience as an assistant principal, teacher of handicapped, school psychologist, school social worker, LDT-C, or school counselor preferred. Preferred: Certification as teacher of the handicapped, school psychologist, school social worker, LDT-C or school counselor. Bilingual (English/Spanish). Applicant should be able to demonstrate his/her ability to do the following: Demonstrates leadership skills in the areas of curriculum development, program evaluation, staff development, school improvement, and implementation of educational initiatives. Comprehensive knowledge of school security, operations, and human resources management. Demonstrates effective problem-solving, communications, organization, planning, record-keeping and human relations skills, especially in conflict resolution and de-escalation. Demonstrates excellent integrity and moral character. Demonstrates consistent flexibility. Maintains composure under duress when dealing with sometimes violent and emotional students. Employs conflict resolution techniques and de-escalate potentially violent situations. Observes and monitors student activity effectively. Tolerates noisy and stimulating school environments (essential). Administers and supervises the school/educational program(s) as assigned. Assumes responsibility for the implementation and supervision of the schools'/programs' curricular goals and objectives, and for the maintenance of the district's educational philosophy. Provides oversight of behavioral services and implementation of research-based instructional materials and strategies, assessments, data collection, and behavioral interventions. Supervises all professional, paraprofessional, and nonprofessional personnel assigned to their school/educational program(s). Works collaboratively and effectively with other administrators for efficiency and cost effectiveness. Assists in the recruiting, screening, hiring, training, and assigning of all professional, paraprofessional, and nonprofessional personnel employees, as directed by the Superintendent. Performs evaluations of professional, paraprofessional, and nonprofessional employees, as directed by the Superintendent. Counsels and directs all staff members regarding their individual and group performance. Conducts meetings of the staff as necessary for the proper functioning of their school/educational program(s). Assists in leading as-needed administrator/counselor meetings. Manages the Behavior Evaluation Program, and is responsible for training staff and students in the requirements of the Behavior Evaluation Program. Prepares and supervises the preparation of reports, records, lists, and all other paperwork required or appropriate to the school's/program's administration, including assistance/preparation with state reports concerning special education as assigned by the Superintendent. Maintains high standards of student conduct and utilizes and promotes de-escalation techniques when behaviors occur. Assumes responsibility for the attendance, safety, health, promotion or retention of students within their school/educational program(s). Works consistently with staff and students to maintain a neat, attractive, clean, and safe learning environment. Identifies, initiates, and promotes activities that develop a positive image of the school and the district. Promotes rapport with the public school district administrators, child study team members, and actively recruits students for their school/educational program(s). Coordinates and supervises student bus transportation with sending districts. Serves as the District/School Safety Specialist, Anti-Bullying Specialist, Affirmative Action Officer, District Assessment Coordinator and Threat Assessment Team Leader, as assigned.
