Program Director
The College seeks a full-time faculty member who will also serve as the Program Director for SUNY Cobleskill's newly formed Steps to Success! Entrepreneurship Program. The position will report to the Business, Food Service, and Agricultural Management Department Chair and the Executive Director of the Institute for Rural Vitality at SUNY Cobleskill.
This is a 12 month, on campus, full-time, tenure track faculty position expected to start teaching in Fall 2023. However, it is desired to have the selected candidate to begin their appointment during the Summer of 2023 to complete the establishment of the new Steps to Success! Entrepreneurship Program. The position carries a minimum teaching load of 9 contact hours each fall and spring semester.
Teaching assignments may be weekday, evening, or weekend. Classes may be online or face-to-face on campus, depending on the College's need. Online classes may be synchronous, asynchronous, hybrid, or HYFLEX delivery format.
Courses may be assigned across multiple areas of business administration, depending on areas of expertise such as Management; Marketing; Operations Management; Strategic Planning; and Entrepreneurship. However, it is expected the successful candidate will have experience with new business development, and/or assisting entrepreneurs with the development of businesses from concept through new product/service launches into the market as the Steps for Success! Entrepreneurship Program Director.
Faculty are required to communicate effectively with students, monitor and support student performance, and submit grades by published deadlines. Consistent communication and faculty availability to students is a key success factor. Further expectations include commitment to technical education, use of emerging pedagogies, willingness to engage in collaborative and/or interdisciplinary models, and a willingness to teach in multiple modes such as hybrid and on-line courses.
About the Department
The Business Administration, Food Service, and Agricultural Management Department offers AS, AAS, BBA, BT, and BS degrees across the disciplines of Accounting, Agricultural Business, Applied Fermentation, Business Administration, Culinary Arts, Culinary Arts Management, Food Systems and Technology, and Restaurant Management. A variety of Minors including Agricultural Education, Entrepreneurship, Human Resource Management, Leadership, Management, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Sustainability are also offered. Additionally, the following micro-credentials are offered: Agri-marketing; AgriBusiness Management and Finance; Baking and Pastry Skills; Food, Nutrition, and Safety Basics; Advertising; E-Marketing; Entrepreneurship; Human Resources Management; Management I & II; Notary Public Preparatory Course; and Supply Chain. The department faculty brings years of extensive professional experience to the classroom.
About the Steps for Success! Entrepreneurship Program
SUNY Cobleskill calls all learners to grow, to sustain and renew the world and its citizens. The newly formed Steps for Success! Entrepreneurship Program provides educational and practical knowledge, hands on experience, development and consultation services to enable participants to gain the knowledge, connections, and self-assurance they need to transform a brilliant idea into a thriving company or to guide an already established company to even greater success.
The Steps for Success! Entrepreneurship Program is open to all SUNY Cobleskill students enrolled in a four-year college degree program in any academic field. Program participants must enroll in the Entrepreneurship minor and enroll in SUNY Cobleskill's Institute for Rural Vitality Mohawk Valley Farm and Food Business Incubator program in the first semester of College. The program will assist students to achieve business development milestones by providing the following services:
- Legal Service offerings
- Shared use facility access for product development
- Product testing and test marketing
- Business consultation
- Marketing consultation
- Marketing and distribution arrangements with the college
- Marketing and distribution arrangements with other businesses
- Founders Track membership
- Lonely Entrepreneur membership
- Potential funding programs

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
- An MBA or other Business-related graduate degree is required for this position
- Experience with new business development, and/or assisting entrepreneurs with the development of businesses from concept through new product/service launches into the market
- Previous professional experience in a business environment or closely related field
- Previous teaching or training experience
- Ability to provide academic and internship advisement
Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the aforementioned minimum qualifications, it is preferred the candidate also have:
- A PhD (or equivalent) in a Business-related discipline is strongly preferred
- Experience operating within an entrepreneur focused program or incubator
- College-level teaching experience in upper-level Business related courses (300 level and above)
- Experience and ability to develop and teach using innovative delivery methods
- Experience with curriculum or training design
- Involvement in workforce development initiatives
Additional Information:
- Salary range is $65,000 - $70,000.
- Courses run on a 2-semester (15-week) academic calendar year starting in late August and January each semester. Summer and Winter sessions are also offered.
