School Technology Support Specialist
DESCRIPTION: The School Technology Support Specialist is responsible for supporting all aspects of technology in the school district. The School Technology Support Specialist reports to the Director of Technology and works collaboratively and independently, as assigned, in coordination with other members of the technology team, administration, and staff. A successful candidate would be a strong troubleshooter, an effective communicator, and adaptable to change. Experience working in an educational environment, IT server infrastructure, GSuite, student information system, wired and wireless networking, Windows services, printers/copiers, IP security camera systems, and PC deployments preferred.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assist in supporting Umonhon Nation Public School in maintaining IT hardware, software, and services to ensure district functionality.
- Provide troubleshooting support to end users for hardware, software, and network issues for a variety of IT equipment through in-person assistance or remote advice through help desk system. (AV, end-point devices, educational websites, filtering systems)
- Document, track, and monitor IT inventory, network, and security issues to facilitate a timely resolution.
- Work as a team member with UNPS school district staff.
- Work with existing IT staff and other departments to support and maintain district personnel and student database systems, website/social media, digital signage, and other resources some of which require data entry and rudimentary graphic design/publishing knowledge.
- Purchasing and project planning and execution for IT related projects. Includes working with internal and external personnel and vendors.
- Facilitating technology support for both in-school and at-home learners.
- Attend local and regional meetings related to role and responsibility.
- Ability to work events or support activities outside regular business hours if necessary
- Support Umonhon Nation Public School’s mission and vision.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to support multi-platform computer systems in an educational environment, primarily Windows, Google (G Suite), iPads.
- Ability to support/learn IT infrastructure in educational environments including server infrastructure and virtualization, wireless and wired networks, switches, and firewalls. Ability to support multiple technologies including but not limited to door access, security cameras, VOIP phone systems.
- Basic hardware installation skills and tool safety knowledge. Occasionally projects require power drills, ethernet cable wiring, ladder or lift usage.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills and work both independently and in conjunction with other staff/outside contractors MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND
EXPERIENCE:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Experience in an educational environment is preferred.
- Valid Nebraska driver’s license with the ability to drive to meet the requirements of the job.
OTHER DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- In order for schools to operate effectively, employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours during each designated workday, unless the employee has received approved leave.
- Any deviation from assigned hours must have prior approval from the employee’s supervisor or building administrator.
- All employees are required to report to work dressed in a manner that reflects a positive image of UNPS and is appropriate for their position.
OPEN UNTIL FILLED
HOURS: 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
SALARY: Negotiable, Based on Qualifications
