CARPENTRY INSTRUCTOR
Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) is seeking applicants for a full-time Carpentry Instructor at the Coyote Ridge Corrections Center in Connell, WA. This position will be responsible for teaching carpentry classes. Qualifications: Five years of recent journey-level work experience in carpentry, High School Diploma, GED certification or equivalent is required, and previous supervisory or lead experience. Salary Range: Initial placement is generally $71,243- $81,217 for a standard 212-day contract, dependent on qualifications. This position will remain open until filled. Essential Functions:
- Teach assigned carpentry classes in accordance with course descriptions and schedule requirements.
- Instruct and supervise students during classroom and lab activities in construction, including metal stud framing, sheet rocking, drop ceilings, finish work, and trim.
- Supervise students on construction projects; develop cost estimates and material lists, and work with college personnel to purchase materials for projects.
- Instruct and supervise students during a construction project, from planning stages through completion.
- Monitor and document student performance.
- Work with personnel in the carpentry industry as advisors for the carpentry program and to facilitate job development for carpentry students during and after their program of study.
- Incorporate relevant technology into classroom presentations.
- Maintain safe work practices, tools, and equipment, keeping environment clean and organized
- Maintain appropriate records on all students.
- Update and develop curriculum as necessary.
- Provide advising/placement for students.
- Participate in department and college activities, committees, etc., as appropriate.
- Develop a training plan for each student.
- Participate in curriculum revision, program management, and research related activities.
- Update program with new methodologies and technologies as appropriate.
