Wor-Wic Community College is accepting applications for a child care teacher. This position creates and manages an environment conducive to the learning and safety of children enrolled at the child development center. This position is considered a mandatory reporter for the Department of Human Services.

Essential Duties
-
The following list is not intended as, nor should it be construed as, exhaustive of all responsibilities, skills or working conditions associated with this position.
- Plans lessons to align with and implement the required curriculum; assesses student development; creates and manages an environment conducive to the learning and safety of children enrolled at the center; and ensures children's basic needs, like nutritional and developmental education, are met
- Supervises student assistants and credit students who are working with children in the classroom
- Communicates information about classroom activities and/or concerns to parents
- Assists the director with identifying and ordering classroom materials and supplies
- Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

- Associate degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field
- Office of Child Care (OCC) Senior Staff Qualified, which includes completion of 45 clock hours of child growth and development, 45 clock hours of preschool curriculum and activities, and nine (9) clock hours of communication skills for child care professionals
- Excellent human relations, verbal and written communication, preschool teaching and activity development skills
- Ability to work with small children
- Demonstrated communication skills for childcare professionals
- Must be at least 19 years old
- Must pass criminal and child protective services background checks
- Must have current first aid and infant and child CPR certification (or obtain immediately after hire)
- Pre-employment medical report and approval from the Maryland Department of Education, Office of Child Care required
- Basic health and safety, medication training and child care COVID-19 training must be completed within 90 days of hire
- Preference will be given to candidates with at least one year of supervised experience working with preschoolers in an approved setting

Supplemental Information

This is a full-time standard support staff position. Days and Hours of work are variable. The starting wage will likely fall around $20.82 but could reach $25.51 per hour for candidates with extensive experience and qualifications.
